Actor Vijay, the ‘Raja of Remake’ signed up with Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) to do the Tamil remake of Aamir Khan’s Raju Hirani directed blockbuster 3 Idiots?
The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Vijay has agreed to do the film and is on the look out for a director to take over the project. Cameraman Ratnavelu has been signed up for the porject.
GFC had earlier remade Munnabhai MBBS into Tamil as Vasool Raja and recently Telugu hit Arya as Kutty in Tamil. GFC has the remake rights of 3 Idiots in all south Indian languages.
The names making the round to direct the film include Vishnuvardhan, Dharani etc. Vijay has not cleared the director as he wants somebody who will modify the original and make it suitable for the mass audiences. In the remake Vijay will play Rancho, the character made memorable by Aamir, while Prakash Raj is likely to do Bomman Irani’s role as Virus!
Madhavan who rocked in the original has made it clear that he will not be part of the Tamil version as he had already “given my heart and soul to the character I played in the Hindi version and it will be boring to do the same character again in the Tamil remake.”
Udayanidhi Stalin has been approached by the film’s producers to do this role. Sharman Joshy’s role will be done by an upcoming star.
Who will do Kareena Kapoor’s role? The name making the rounds is the usual suspect’sSruthi Hassan and Asin. The other big question that remained unanswered is when will Vijaystart work on 3 Idiots remake? What about his commitment to do Bodyguard remake with director Siddique and when will he start director Jayam Raja’s film for Oscar Ravichandran?

ABOUT KAVALKARAN FILM

Much prior to Vijay’s 50th film Sura would hit screens, the actor has already completed the first schedule for Kavalkaran. Followed by Vettaikaran, Vijay has once again chosen the title of yesteryear MGR film Kavalkaran. The actor reasserts that choosing the yesteryear titles of superstars’ films gains more prominence for his films.

As known earlier, Kavalkaran is a remake of Malayalam film Bodyguard (Dileep and Nayantara in lead roles). The film is directed by Siddique and marks the comeback of Asin in Tamilfilm industry.

The first schedule has been shot across the locales of Kumbakonam, Kaaraikudi and Pollachi. According to the buzz, yesteryear actors Raj Kiran and Roja seem to have been signed for this film for enacting the role of Asin’s parents. Followed by the grand success, Ghilli and Kuruvi, musicdirector Vidyasagar has scored music for this Vijay’s film.

Vijay was the only person shocked after seeing that the trailer of his film Sura was lifted after the 13th day of the release of the film. Sura’s trailer was replaced by Singam trailer.
The film was taken out of the theatres on the 25th day of its release. Vijay who had the knack of making his film run for 100 days in spite of its failures was not able to do this time, though he held the Chennai city rights.
Hence, Vijay has purchased the film Kavalkaran outright. The reason for this that he didn’t want the Sun Pictures to acquire the rights and the second thing is that he wanted to set right the losses incurred by the distributors by releasing Sura. He has planned to act in a film and give the distributors at a low price.
