Actor Vijay, the ‘Raja of Remake’ signed up with Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) to do the Tamil remake of Aamir Khan’s Raju Hirani directed blockbuster 3 Idiots?
The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Vijay has agreed to do the film and is on the look out for a director to take over the project. Cameraman Ratnavelu has been signed up for the porject.
GFC had earlier remade Munnabhai MBBS into Tamil as Vasool Raja and recently Telugu hit Arya as Kutty in Tamil. GFC has the remake rights of 3 Idiots in all south Indian languages.
The names making the round to direct the film include Vishnuvardhan, Dharani etc. Vijay has not cleared the director as he wants somebody who will modify the original and make it suitable for the mass audiences. In the remake Vijay will play Rancho, the character made memorable by Aamir, while Prakash Raj is likely to do Bomman Irani’s role as Virus!
Madhavan who rocked in the original has made it clear that he will not be part of the Tamil version as he had already “given my heart and soul to the character I played in the Hindi version and it will be boring to do the same character again in the Tamil remake.”
Udayanidhi Stalin has been approached by the film’s producers to do this role. Sharman Joshy’s role will be done by an upcoming star.
Who will do Kareena Kapoor’s role? The name making the rounds is the usual suspect’sSruthi Hassan and Asin. The other big question that remained unanswered is when will Vijaystart work on 3 Idiots remake? What about his commitment to do Bodyguard remake with director Siddique and when will he start director Jayam Raja’s film for Oscar Ravichandran?

ABOUT KAVALKARAN FILM

Much prior to Vijay’s 50th film Sura would hit screens, the actor has already completed the first schedule for Kavalkaran. Followed by Vettaikaran, Vijay has once again chosen the title of yesteryear MGR film Kavalkaran. The actor reasserts that choosing the yesteryear titles of superstars’ films gains more prominence for his films.

As known earlier, Kavalkaran is a remake of Malayalam film Bodyguard (Dileep and Nayantara in lead roles). The film is directed by Siddique and marks the comeback of Asin in Tamilfilm industry.

The first schedule has been shot across the locales of Kumbakonam, Kaaraikudi and Pollachi. According to the buzz, yesteryear actors Raj Kiran and Roja seem to have been signed for this film for enacting the role of Asin’s parents. Followed by the grand success, Ghilli and Kuruvi, musicdirector Vidyasagar has scored music for this Vijay’s film.

Vijay was the only person shocked after seeing that the trailer of his film Sura was lifted after the 13th day of the release of the film. Sura’s trailer was replaced by Singam trailer.
The film was taken out of the theatres on the 25th day of its release. Vijay who had the knack of making his film run for 100 days in spite of its failures was not able to do this time, though he held the Chennai city rights.
Hence, Vijay has purchased the film Kavalkaran outright. The reason for this that he didn’t want the Sun Pictures to acquire the rights and the second thing is that he wanted to set right the losses incurred by the distributors by releasing Sura. He has planned to act in a film and give the distributors at a low price.

Vijay felt that his fans have realized that as a social group – even if it is just a fan club – they can do their part to bring about a change in society. He thanked them for heeding his request to send telegrams to the Prime Minister to demand a solution for the Sri Lankan crisis. He also stated that he is extremely happy that his fan club members care so much for society’s welfare. “I respect my fans' decision and this is a signal of a new beginning of an inclusive and humane society,” opined the actor.

At the same time, the actor insisted that there should not be any violation of law and order in this protest. “We should respect law and order. We should follow non-violence always. Acting career

Vijay debuted as a lead role actor in the 1992 film Naalaya Theerpu, produced by his father. After a few other films, he co-stared with Vijayakanth in the film Sendhoorapandi. This film helped Vijay to become popular in the interior areas of Tamil Nadu. Films like Rasigan, Vishnu, and Deva were low-budget movies established him to audiences. Vijay is also one of the few lead actors of his generation to co-star with veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan. This opportunity came in the film Once More, directed by his father S. A. Chandrasekhar in 1996.

The year 1996 he found his first success in the Vikraman-directed film Poove Unakkaga which helped Vijay to establish as a emerging star in Tamil films. He found some flops and success with films that followed, which had an unorthodox climax like Love Today. In 1997 he acted in the Vasanth film Nerrukku Ner along with Surya Sivakumar. This film was produced by Mani Ratnam. Then he acted in Kadhalukku Mariyadhai directed by Fazil. Kadhalukku Mariyadhai deemed was a blockbuster and made Vijay receive that year's Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor.

In 1998, Vijay worked in Priyamudan and Thulladha Manamum Thullum which were well received at box offices. Then the following films Endrendrum Kadhal, Nenjinile, Minsara Kanna failed miscerably at box-office. Then he did Kannukkul Nilavu with Fazil but the movie failed at boxoffice even his acting was praised. He decided not to commit in films that took a year to release, which changed his trend. His next venture was Kushi which was a super hit of 2000. The following films like Priyamanavale, Friends were once again successful for Vijay and Badrianother super hit movie.

Later on, he starred in Shahjahan, Thamizhan which all failed at box office and got average success again in Youth, However, the films that followed Bagavathi ,Vaseegara, Pudhiya Geethai, and his delayed film Udhaya became low grossers and flopped. This highly affected Vijay's success rate and he was looked down upon by film critics and producers.

His string of failure films was broken by Thirumalai in 2003 which had Vijay in a new facial appearance. Ghilli, which was released in 2004, is considered to be one of Vijay's biggest hits today. Directed by Dharani and produced by A. M. Rathnam, it was a remake of the Telugu film Okkadu, and ran for 200 days in theatres in Tamil Nadu. Then came Madhurey which was a average grosser at box office . It was in this year which Vijay began to portray his current mass-hero, stereotypical acting style, giving him a major turning point in his career. The following year had other major successes such as mega hit Thirupaachi, and a typical romantic jolly movie Sachin and a super hit Sivakasi.

Vijay's unsuccessful film since the release of Thirumalai was Aathi , which released in 2006. This film failed miserably at box-office. Later that year he announced Pokkiri, directed byPrabhu Deva, which released in 2007. Pokkiri had met almost the same success as Ghilli did,in which Vijay was given a different style to act as. This made Vijay receive an honorary doctorate title from the M. G. R. University. Later that year, Vijay appeared in Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, and for the first time, he appeared in dual roles, as the antagonist and protagonist. In 2008, he starred in Kuruvi, again under Dharani's direction.

The year 2009 started off with the action mass film Villu, which was directed by Prabhu Deva who was keen on working with him again after Pokkiri. The film, which had Vijay in dual roles for the second time in his career. Vijay's next film Vettaikkaaran, directed by Babu Sivan, produced by AVM Productions and distributed by Sun Pictures, which began filming in February 2009 and was released on December 18, 2009 to positive reviews.

Vijay is currently acting in Sura, in which he will co-star Tamanna Bhatia, directed by S. P. Rajakumar and produced by Sangili Murugan. Directors M. Raja and N. Lingusamy have also confirmed that they will be casting Vijay in their next respective films.

VIJAY AND SURYA UP FOR APRIL CLASH
